How to make a Puff Stitch

I love making projects with puff stitches because you can get super loose with tension and little mistakes are easily hidden.

You’ll want to be a bit more careful with cotton yarn, since the fibers can separate more easily and make it harder to pull through your loops.

Step 1: Start by yarning over and pulling up a loop. You should have 3 loops on your hook. Remember to pull on the loops so that they are loose, to give that “puff” look.

Step 2: Yarn over again and pull up another loop. You’ll have 5 loops on your hook.

Step 3: Yarn over one last time and pull up another loop. You’ll have 7 loops on your hook.

Step 4: Finally, yarn over and pull the yarn through 6 of the hoops. This will leave two loops on your hook.

Step 5: You’ll end the PS by CH 1 to lock it in place.

Next, insert the lobster clip bottom around the beginning of the braid. Fold the braid over. Make a final puff stitch, joining both sides together and securing the lobster clip in place.

Finally, sew in your ends, and your braided crochet wristlet is complete!
